2017 FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS

Wednesday, November 29, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Step into the magic of the holidays with the traditional Downtown Loveland tree-lighting ceremony and 2nd Annual Festival of Lights.

The Festival of Lights, presented by the Loveland Downtown Partnership brings holiday fun with the lighting a 24-foot Christmas Tree, entertainment and treats on Wednesday, November 29, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

This one-night event kick starts the holidays with a candlelight sing-along, and beautifully-lit Downtown District with bright snowflakes and garland, that will be sure to capture everyone’s delight. The festivities take place on Fourth Street, between Jefferson and Railroad Avenues, with a fun family-friendly area between Lincoln and Jefferson and another area for the adults with a kid's heart between Cleveland and Railroad featuring a music stage, local breweries, a winery and food.

Starting at 5 p.m., gather in front of the Loveland Museum/Gallery at Fifth Street and Lincoln, where the first 500 attendees will receive a Glow Candle and glo-in-the-dark face painting. Join a barbershop quartet in a caroling parade to the Rialto Square for the tree lighting. Enjoy the Loveland Chorale Society as they sing a delightful mix of sacred, secular and jazzy holiday carols.

Christmas Tree on 4th Street, Festival of Lights, Downtown Loveland ColoradoAt 6 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive and, along with the Mayor, will lead the countdown for the lighting of the Christmas Tree. Throughout the celebration create memories, warm up with hot chocolate and make S’mores around warm crackling fires, go on a horse-drawn carriage ride, sing with carolers, meet a Disney Snow Princess and watch a Christmas Tale come to life.

Father Christmas and other fun holiday characters will also be visiting with children young and old.

In the spirit of giving and support for our community, please bring donations of needed supplies and personal items for the 137 Homeless Connection.

This is a true hometown, downtown holiday celebration, not to be missed and you'll want to make the Festival of Lights a family tradition year after year! It’s a free event and open to the public. For more information, please call 970-541-4333.

The Festival of Lights is traditionally held on the Wednesday after Thanksgiving.

“People of Loveland” - Animal Edition.
Meet Bob.
Age: 8
Breed: Pound Puppy / Dork
Occupation: Cosmic Dog Greeter

“We have a deal. He makes me laugh, and I feed him,” said Cosmic Dogowner Jessie.
I adopted Bob from the Weld County Humane Society after I saw him on Petfinder.com
He was found wearing a collar, and his name was Kingston. When the humane society called the owners, they said “keep him.”
He was approximately 18 months old... and I could totally see why the previous owners told the humane society to keep him! After I adopted him, Bob would always run away between the railroad tracks and the canal by where I live. Luckily, the homeless people in downtown Loveland knew Bob, and would always bring him back home.
Bob is the greeter at my store, and my taste tester for the treats.
Cosmic Dog has been open for almost 6 years, and Bob has been here the whole time.
Bob is a customer favorite, and I’m chopped liver. People always remembers Bob’s name before mine. (Laughing)
After school when the Bill Reed Middle School kids walk home, Bob always has his head out the door and all you hear is “Hi Bob!” “Hey Bob!” “Bob!”

“People of Loveland”

 Meet Mayor Jacki.

“I’m mailing my packages out at the post office, and then I’m walking down to City Hall where I pick up my mail and newspapers. I’m out to get my vitamin D quota for the day.
Loveland is gorgeous today!
I’m really looking forward to Memorial Day weekend!”
